The exhibition "Modern and Metamodern" and the text that accompanied the Arturo magazine open an interesting dialogue between historical avant-garde movements and contemporary artistic expressions. This dialogue not only reconstructs, but also challenges the boundaries between modernism and the avant-garde, revealing the constant evolution of art and its ability to respond to, and reflect, social and cultural changes.

Geometric abstraction, as explored in the work of pioneering figures such as Arturo and movements like the Concrete-Invention Art Association, Madí, and perceptualism, represents a radical break with previous traditions, rejecting direct representation in favor of forms that speak a language of pure visuality and conceptualization. This cut made by geometric abstraction is not just an artistic form, but a response to a specific cultural and social context, seeking new ways of conceiving space, form, and color.

Looking towards the horizon of geometry raises questions about the distinctions and definitions between the modern and the contemporary. How are the tensions and fluidity between these eras reflected in current artistic practices? Contemporary works, in dialogue with their modern predecessors, frequently cross boundaries between the aesthetic and the functional, the artistic and the technological, challenging and expanding the definitions of what art can be.

The spirit of the avant-garde, as demonstrated by the innovative push of artists like Gyula Kosice and publications like Arturo, is not confined to a bygone era, but persists as a vital and dynamic influence. This spirit challenges the established and constantly seeks new and radical forms of expression, echoing Vicente Huidobro's idea that to invent is to make "parallel things in space meet in time."

In the current era, this continuous intersection of ideas and forms not only revitalizes the legacy of past avant-gardes, but also prompts us to consider how our own artistic perceptions and expressions can be understood or transformed in the future. Art In Caps embraces this constant dialogue as a testament to the richness and complexity of the artistic landscape, where the past informs the present and art remains a critical reflection of humanity.
